Perfect for those looking to advance their throwing skills with a focused project, this weekend course guides you through making an eight-piece tableware set: two bowls, two dinner plates, two side plates and two cups.

Held over two full days (Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 4pm), the course includes 12 hours of instruction, followed by a 2.5 hour evening glazing session where you'll finish your pieces with your choice of colours and surface decoration. See glazing date below in course schedule.

Please see our FAQ and T&Cs below before getting in touch.

Level 2 | Skill Development

This level is ideal for students who have taken one of our Level 1 classes and would like to develop their skills. You'll focus on refining technique, exploring more complex forms, and developing personal expression through your work. Classes are kept small with just 6 to 9 participants, ensuring individual guidance and the space to develop your skills.

You are ready for this level if you are comfortable with:
- Centering clay
- Throwing a cylinder
- Trimming
- Basic Glazing

Course Schedule

Over 12 hours (6 hours daily) students will work on specific shapes, developing their technique. There will be a 2.5 hour glazing session approximately 4 weeks after the course.

Day 1:
A refresher on the key fundamentals including centering, clay preparation, and wedging. The focus will be on throwing cylinders to create cups and taller forms like beakers, and exploring bowl shapes such as breakfast and pasta bowls. You'll also learn to use batts and begin throwing plates.

Day 2:
Refine your pieces through trimming and learn how to attach handles. You’ll have the opportunity to personalise your work with surface decoration, pedestals, or feet. The day also covers clay recycling, drying stages, and the firing process, providing a well-rounded refresher.

Glazing:
Each weekend course has a specified glazing date, please ensure you are available for both the weekend and your evening glazing date:

• 28th & 29th June Weekend: 25th July Glaze (18:30–21:00)

• 30th & 31st August Weekend: 11th October Glaze (17:00–19:30)

• 8th & 9th November Weekend: Glaze date approx 4 weeks after.

We add new blocks of classes approximately three months in advance of classes starting.

Can I join a waiting list for classes?
