Course Contents

Over 12 hours (6 hours daily), students will build on existing handbuilding skills, exploring advanced slab, coiling, and construction techniques. A 2.5-hour glazing session will take place approximately 4 weeks after the course. See below for glaze dates.

Day 1:
Focus on planning and constructing more complex hand-built forms. Students will work with slabs and refined coiling techniques to more intricate pieces. Emphasis is placed on structure, proportion, and thoughtful design. Guidance on surface decoration, including sgraffito, resist techniques, and texture, will be introduced.

Day 2:
Refine and assemble your pieces, add handles or attachments where appropriate, and continue exploring surface decoration and personal style. The day also covers clay care, including recycling, drying, and preparing pieces for firing, giving you a comprehensive handbuilding experience.

Glazing:
Each course includes a scheduled glazing session. Please ensure availability for both the weekend and the evening glazing date to complete your pieces.

• 27th & 28th June Weekend: Saturday August 1st (17:00 - 19:30)

Includes clay, tools and firing/glazing costs for 5 pieces. Please ensure you can attend all sessions before booking. Participants are welcome to bring a packed lunch along with them. Pieces will be ready for collection approximately 4-6 weeks after the final glaze date.
