A space to make creativity accessible to everyone

Helloooo, I’m Siofra

After completing a throwing course years ago, I was stuck with nowhere to practise and ended up buying a wheel to continue throwing in my kitchen. Since graduating from Art School in 2014 I have always missed the social aspect of a studio environment. So when I met Lizzie & Cole who set up their own open-access ceramic studio (The Mud Room) in Portland, it inspired me to take the leap and do the same. I quit my job as an Art Director and set off to Barcelona to complete my training with master potter Corrie Bain. From there I moved to London to work in Turning Earth, a very successful ceramic studio with the same open-access business model. I took everything I learnt back to Dublin and opened Throwing Shapes in 2024.

Recently I spoke to Una Mullally about my experience in ceramics, community and all things Throwing Shapes. Read the article from The Irish Times here.
