Get started with a class
Classes are for everyone—from complete beginners to more experienced potters aged over 18.
Our passionate teachers cover both hand-building and wheel throwing techniques, in classes generally 3 hours long either one-off or over 5 weeks. Occasionally we offer intensive weekend courses and masterclasses from guest ceramicists for members.
If you have never tried pottery before we recommend you start with hand-building class.

3 Hour Taster Classes

Perfect for beginners who just want to dip a toe in. We recommend taking a hand-building taster class if you’re a complete newbie, but we offer throwing taster classes too.
Classes include firing and glazing your favourite piece from the class.

5 Week Hand-Building
€225
Learn essential hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, extrusion, and slab building to create functional and sculptural work.
15 hours of teaching over 5 weeks. Geared towards beginners, but open to all!

5 Week Wheel Throwing
€225
Starting from the basics, learn how to work with clay on the potter's wheel. This course will provide a foundation for creating functional ceramics.

Weekend Foundation Courses
€225
15 hours of teaching over one weekend and one evening. We will cover everything you need to know to get your skills up to scratch to be able practise ceramics independently. Perfect course for people who have some previous experience but are feeling a bit rusty.

Hand-building and wheel throwing
Private 2.5hr class for your group
We will fire and glaze a piece for each participate
Drinks and nibbles included
The perfect way to get creative and unwind with your colleagues. Our corporate events can be customised to suit your needs. We provide a selection of drinks and nibbles on arrival. Please get in touch for more information.

(5 week classes only)
Unfortunately if you miss a class you will only be able to make-up the class if there is another comparable course running at the same time with a free spot. This is not guaranteed because we are only holding 2-3 5 week courses at the same time.
We really recommend you ensure you can attend all classes before you book your 5 week course.

Of course! If you want to gift a class or course just email gifts@throwingshapes.ie. We can even send you a gift voucher to gift your loved one.

To request a cancellation and refund, you must email refunds@throwingshapes.ie. Refunds requested more than two weeks prior to the first class are fully refundable. There will be no refunds once the class begins in any circumstance, nor can we transfer you to another class. Unfortunately we cannot be flexible on this policy for any reason. Should a class not fill sufficiently, we may cancel or reschedule it one week prior to the first class session.
