In celebration of International Women’s Day, this special hand-building workshop invites participants to create their own Goddess or Venus-inspired ceramic piece on Sunday March 8th. Drawing inspiration from early prehistoric figurative sculptures such as the Venus of Willendorf, this class will explore historic and modern representations of the female body as symbols of fertility, strength, and divinity, while bringing ancient forms into a contemporary context.

While traditional Venus figures were purely sculptural, participants will have the option to create one small hand-built ceramic piece as either a sculptural form or a functional object such as a jug or vase. The focus of the workshop will be on slow, intuitive making, celebrating the female form and encouraging personal expression through clay. See Course Content below for glazing information.

Teacher bio:
Tatiana (pronounced “Tash-e-ana”) is a ceramicist and interior designer whose practice focuses on exploring the space between function and sculpture. Her ceramic work often explores curves, movement and material rawness, while blending the relationship between objects and the spaces we inhabit. Through teaching, she aims to create a relaxed environment where participants can experiment and create through textures and shapely forms. You can find more of her work here: @follydesignstudio

Please see our FAQ and T&Cs below before getting in touch.
