The course starts on the first date listed and runs weekly from that date (including any bank holidays unless otherwise stated.)

Week 1: Pinching
Learn how to form vessels using the pinch pot method, one of the oldest and simplest hand-building techniques that encourages sensitivity to shape and thickness.

Week 2: Slabbing
Explore slab-building, where rolled-out sheets of clay are cut and joined to create structured forms like boxes, cylinders, or abstract shapes.

Week 3: Coiling
Build larger and more complex shapes using the coiling method - layering rolled clay ropes to form sturdy, sculptural vessels.

Week 4: Project Week 1 & Surface Decoration
Begin a personal project using your preferred technique, and experiment with surface textures and decorative methods to enhance your work.

Week 5: Project Week 2 & Refining
Continue building and refining your piece, focusing on form, finish, and preparing your work for firing.

Week 6: Glazing
Apply glazes to your finished pieces and learn about the glazing process, from color choices to techniques for different effects.

Includes clay, tools and firing/glazing costs for 5 pieces. Please ensure you can attend all sessions before booking. Pieces will be ready for collection approximately 4-6 weeks after the final glaze date.
