Making ceramics accessible.
We believe financial circumstances shouldn’t determine who gets to work with clay.
The Studio Access Programme offers a small number of reduced-rate places each term for people who would otherwise be unable to access Throwing Shapes without financial support. Places are limited and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If you feel this programme could support your practice, we encourage you to apply.
What’s Available
You can apply for a reduced rate on:
⚫ Studio membership
⚫ Ceramics classes or courses
Supported places are offered at 50% of the standard price.
Classes & Courses
Supported places for classes are offered only where spaces remain after the initial public booking period. Availability may vary each term, and we’ll let you know what’s currently open when reviewing your application.
Studio Membership
Supported memberships are offered for a 3-month period. At the end of that time, you’ll be invited to reapply if you still require support.
Who It’s For
This programme is for people on a low income who have some interest or experience in ceramics.
You don’t need to be an expert, but you should have a basic familiarity with clay and feel comfortable working independently in the studio - or be ready to join a class with that in mind.
If you’re unsure whether the programme is the right fit, feel free to contact us at info@throwingshapes.ie before applying.
How to Apply
Fill out the short application form below and we’ll be in touch within 1–2 weeks.
Proof of Income
As part of your application, we’ll ask you to upload one form of documentation confirming low income.
We accept:
⚫ A DSP (Department of Social Protection) letter confirming receipt of social welfare benefits (such as Jobseeker’s Allowance, Working Family Payment or Disability Allowance)
⚫ A Statement of Liability (formerly P21) issued by Revenue for the previous tax year
⚫ A valid Medical Card or GP Visit Card
⚫ HAP (Housing Assistance Payment) or other social housing records
Not sure what applies to you? Citizens Information can help you identify what documentation you may have access to.
Privacy & GDPR
We will only use your proof of income to verify your application. Once reviewed, your documents are deleted and not kept on file.
A Note From Us
Throwing Shapes is an open, community-focused studio, and we want it to be a place for everyone in Dublin 8 and beyond.
If financial pressure is the only thing standing between you and your ceramics practice, please apply - that’s exactly what this programme is here for.
