Throwing Shapes Studio Induction Checklist - Summary

1. General Studio Rules

・ No pets or children allowed.

・ Sensible footwear is mandatory.

・ Eating is only allowed in the kitchen.

・ No sanding is permitted.

・ Guests require a Day Pass (€50) which can be booked via the member's area of the website.

2. Cloakroom and Kitchen

・ Coats and bags should be kept in the cloakroom, and nothing should be left overnight.

・ The kitchen is a communal space where members are encouraged to share tea and coffee but lunchboxes must be cleared every Friday.

・ The kitchen is a strict clay-free zone.

3. Studio Access & Membership

・ Access is between 8am-11:30pm. Members must tap in and avoid letting others in.

・ Guests can only visit during specific hours when staff are present.

4. Hand-building, Wheel Area, and Equipment Use

・ Hand-building tables and wheels must be kept clean and sharp tools are not allowed on tables.

・ Tools such as slab-rollers and extruders require an induction before use and wheels should be cleaned after use.

・ Class wheels must remain free when classes are scheduled, with a 3-hour limit during busy times.

5. Clay, Shelves, and Firing

・ Clay must be paid for in advance and only approved stoneware is allowed.

・ All member belongings should fit on personal shelves, which need regular cleaning.

・ Only work created in the studio is eligible for firing, with a €3/kg fee. Re-firing must be ticketed.

・ Members are limited to 60 firings a month. Any firings over this amount will be charged triple.

6. Health, Safety, and Cleaning

・ Members must clean all tools and areas after using the bucket system.

・ Clay, trimmings and greenware are recycled, while all waste water goes into designated buckets.

・ Safety measures include awareness of fire alarms, extinguishers, first-aid kits & accident reporting.

7. Glazing and Firing

・ Glazing must be carefully managed to avoid studio damage. Personal glazes require approval.

・ Only bone-dry work should be placed on bisque firing shelves. Any damp work will be removed.

8. Responsibility for Damage

・ Members are accountable for any damage caused to the studio or equipment.

9. Consequences for Rule Violations

・ Non-compliance with studio rules, such as not cleaning or cooperating with staff or letting outsiders into the studio will result in immediate membership termination.

Your membership costs €200 per month, with billing cycles starting on the 1st or 15th of each month. You will have access to the studio on your chosen billing date.

Cancellation Policy

I understand the Throwing Shapes membership cancellation policy that states members can cancel membership by providing written notice at least 30 days before the start of the next month. For instance, if I cancel on the 10th of the month, and my cycle starts on the 1st, I will still be charged for the following month, and my cancellation will take effect at the end of that month. *

Waiver and Release of Liability

I confirm as a member of Throwing Shapes I will: 1. follow all instructions from Throwing Shapes employees, management and/or teachers; 2. comply with all Throwing Shapes safety instructions and studio policies; 3. not load, unload, operate the kilns or enter the kiln area; 4. follow the fire procedure in the event of a fire; 5. wear appropriate footwear (no heels or open toes) and keep hair tied back; 6. not use any equipment which I haven’t been inducted on; 7. always respect the clay payment system; 8. always follow the lock-up procedure if last one out of the studio; 9. not open the door for non-members or bring guests into the studio. *

In consideration of the risk of injury while participating in use of the Throwing Shapes studio (the "Activity"), and as consideration for the right to participate in the Activity, I hereby release Throwing Shapes Limited (“Throwing Shapes”), its agents, representatives, assignees, employees and management, from all liabilities, claims, damages or causes of action of any kind whatsoever arising out the Activity and I voluntarily waive any right that I have to bring a legal action against Throwing Shapes for personal injury or property damage arising from the Activity. I understand that the waiver includes, but is not limited to all injuries to me and/or loss of or damage to any personal property. I also understand that this waiver includes, but is not limited to, any claims that are based on my alleged negligence or any action or inaction of the above parties. *

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Throwing Shapes against any and all claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for damages, compensation or otherwise brought by me or anyone on my behalf, including legal fees, if litigation arises pursuant to any claims made by me or anyone acting on my behalf. *

I acknowledge that the risks involved in this activity may include, but are not limited to, those caused by exposure to dust or chemicals, facilities, temperature, wet floors, equipment failure or misuse, condition of members, equipment malfunction, actions of others, including but not limited to, members, volunteers, employees, teachers, visitors, landlord. *

In the event that I should require medical care or treatment, I understand that I will be financially responsible for any costs incurred as a result of such treatment. *

In the event that any damage to equipment or facilities occurs due to my action, neglect or recklessness, I acknowledge and agree to be held liable for any and all costs associated with such actions. *

In the event that any provision contained within this waiver shall be deemed to be severable or invalid, or if any term, condition, phrase or portion of this waiver shall be determined to be unlawful or otherwise unenforceable, the remainder of this waiver shall remain in full force and effect, so long as the clause severed does not affect the intent of the parties. If a court should find that any provision of this waiver to be invalid or unenforceable, but that by limiting said provision it would become valid and enforceable, then said provision shall be deemed to be written, construed and enforced as so limited. *

Permission to use your image

I confirm that I give my permission to Throwing Shapes to publish in print, electronic or video format the likeness or image of myself and/or my work for the promotion of Throwing Shapes and its programs, including on Throwing Shapes’ website, social media and advertising. *

Throwing Shapes will use the information provided on this form for administrative purposes related to your membership and studio activities. We may use your contact information for marketing purposes, such as sending promotional emails or newsletters about studio events. Your information will be kept confidential and will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes without your explicit consent. By signing this form, you acknowledge and consent to the collection, use, and potential marketing use of your personal data in accordance with GDPR. *
