We're delighted to announce Lynn O'Donnovan as our Clay City Graduate Resident for 2026/27.
Originally from Cork, Lynn recently completed her MA in Ceramics at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, UK, following a First Class Honours degree in Contemporary Applied Art from Crawford College of Art & Design.
Since graduating, her work has received widespread recognition, including the Ceramics Ireland Creativity & Craftsmanship Award, a residency at the National Sculpture Factory, and exhibitions throughout Ireland and the UK.
About Lynn's Work:
"Working primarily in porcelain, Lynn combines hand-building with Nerikomi techniques to create sculptural forms that explore the relationship between fragility and strength. Inspired by family history, her work investigates themes of DNA, genetics and inherited conditions, using layered porcelain bodies to create fluid, abstract structures that echo the complexities of the human body. Through distortion, curvature and material experimentation, each piece reflects both the resilience and vulnerability found within us."
During her residency, Lynn will develop a new body of work while exploring opportunities to collaborate with medical and community organisations across Dublin. Her proposal also includes community-based projects using clay as a creative tool for connection, something that we are very passionate about at Throwing Shapes.
