We’re thrilled to announce @teruri.yamawaki, a Japanese ceramic artist who will be joining us this summer as our third Professional Resident.

Born in Aomori and now based in Kanazawa, Teruri has developed her practice through leading residencies including Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park and Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo, and is currently guest artist at Tainan National University of the Arts in Taiwan. A graduate of Kasama College of Ceramic Art, her work has been exhibited internationally across Japan, Europe, Mexico and beyond, with recent exhibitions at Collect London 2025, Ceramic Brussels and a solo exhibition in Kyoto.

About Teruri's Work:

“Her practice begins with a simple yet enduring question: where do we come from, and where are we going? Through hand-built ceramic sculpture, she creates containers for the soul. The softness of clay and the breathing quality of hollow forms allow each piece to receive what cannot be seen. Openings and inner cavities suggest a quiet threshold between presence and absence. Rather than offering explanation, she works through silence and form. Each sculpture seeks to hold stillness - remaining open to what may dwell within.”
