Avery Parducci is a Seattle native who relocated to Dublin in 2019, where he balances a career in communications with a passion for pottery. Specializing in wheel throwing and hand-building, Avery creates functional pieces inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and Ireland. His journey into ceramics began over seven years ago with a 10-week course taken on a whim, sparking a love for clay that he has cultivated through self-teaching, community practice, and formal courses. Surprised by how quickly he took to the wheel despite never considering himself “artistic,” Avery is now dedicated to helping others discover the joy of pottery.

For the past five years, Avery has been teaching 6-week hand-building courses and wheel throwing tasters, emphasizing that anyone can make pottery with the right tools and guidance. His work has been showcased in exhibitions such as the Ceramic Ireland Annual Members Exhibition at Dublin Castle and the Community Cup Showcase at Rat City Studios in Seattle. I had a great taster wheel throwing session here! The studio is clean and very well equipped, and plenty of materials are provided. Avery, the instructor, was really helpful and I had a great time learning a new skill. I even got to pick up my small and wonky vase afterwards! (The wonkiness is a reflection of my own ability, not the quality of the teaching.) I’m planning to return for a longer course.

Newbie to using clay but wanted to give it a try and so went to my first taster wheel throwing class back in June and knew then that I had to come back and do a course. The space is so welcoming and feels like a little retreat from the busy world outside.
